Wetherspoon joins Mexican wave

Pubco J D Wetherspoon has introduced a Mexican night to its weekly food clubs.

The Mexican Monday menu offers four dishes served with a drink from the club range.

Dishes include a burrito, filled with brown rice, cheese, bell peppers, pinto and black beans, red onion and tomato served with tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, chilli peppers and a choice of fillings including vegetarian five-bean chilli with Quorn; chilli con carne; BBQ pulled pork; shaved rib-eye steak and chicken breast strips.

A naked burrito, a lower-carb option is also on offer, served without the tortilla and offered with salad leaves, Mexican-style tice, pico de gallo, guacamole, salsa, sour cream and chilli peppers.

Quesadillas are also part of the club menu, filled with pulled pork. Mini nachos are available as a side order. Sol beer is among the drinks choices.

The company’s other food clubs include Steak Club on Tuesdays, Wing-it Wednesday Chicken Club, Curry Club on Thursdays, Fish Fridays and Sunday Club for Sunday roasts.

Earlier this month the company introduced its Lavazza filter coffee for 99p , with free refills in order to entice more customers through the doors of its 880 UK pubs in the mornings and early afternoons and take a larger slice of the breakfast market.
