A pub near Shrewsbury is celebrating having been owned and run by the same family for 100 years.

The New Inn, situated in the village of Hook-A-Gate, was purchased in 1915 by Robert Hunter and his wife Susan. Robert died in 1952 and his son Denis and wife Joan took over.

In 1982, Denis handed the pub to son Rod who installed a catering kitchen and turned a games room into a restaurant, taking the pub into a new era. Rod passed away in May 2009 and left the pub to his wife Debbie.

She said: “I may only be a Hunter through marriage but no one could respect the history of this pub or love it more.”

Debbie now runs the pub with partner Martin Davies and his son Tom.
