A total of thirteen contestants will face off before a panel of judges including Rowley Leigh, “Pie Man” Andy Bates and restaurants director for Selfridges Hannah Bass at the event, which takes place at Truffle Hunting site the Princess Victoria in Shepherd's Bush, London.
James McLean, operations director for back-of-house at Truffle Hunting, said: "It's a chance for us to get together with lots of people, have a bit of fun playing around with pork pies, and all in aid of global charity, Action Against Hunger. This year we've got some fantastic entries for the judges, so it should be a good night."
Pub chefs competing this year include 2014’s reigning champion Tom Langdon of the Garrison, BBC2 Great British Menu finalist Dominic Chapman of the Beehive, Jamie Thickett of the Opera Tavern in Covent Garden, Aidan Mcgee of Top 50 Gastropubs finalists the Truscott Arms, Peter Weeden of the Newman Street Tavern and the Princess Victoria’s own head chef Matt Reuther.
Each entrant’s pie will be rated out of five for pastry, filling and overall impression. The pie with the highest accumulated final score will be sold in Selfridges’ Food Hall, with its creator named Pork Pie Off champion and given a token trophy.
In addition to this one pie will also be crowned the People’s Pie, voted for by attending members of the public.
Entry to the event costs £10, which will be donated to Action Against Hunger, a charity working to combat international food poverty.
