People's Choice Award

Tavern Company in Liverpool was named the “People’s Choice” for its  Full English, featuring two specialist sausages (made to the owner’s own recipe), lean back bacon, egg, grilled tomato, black pudding, mushrooms and baked beans with extra thick sliced toast, made with fresh locally baked bread.

Keith Gurney, owner of The Tavern Company, said, “We’re thrilled to have won the UK’s best breakfast for a second time. We started serving breakfast, only on Sundays, 20 years ago to about 12 people and now we’re serving over 2,000 breakfasts a week. Since winning the award in 2014 we have had to extend our opening hours and expand our breakfast menu. We would like to sincerely thank our loyal customers for helping us to retain our title in 2015.”

The Best Cold Breakfast Award went to Oliver’s Coffee Bar, based in Belfast, for their range of homemade breakfast scones. The scones include plain, cherry, pear and almond, raspberry and white chocolate and cinnamon.

Karen Levy, marketing executive from HGCA, the organiser of the Best Breakfast Awards said: “We would like to congratulate all the winners.  We had thousands of votes for the hundreds of dishes that were entered into the awards as customers showed their support for their local venue. These awards set out to show the choice of breakfast available at all types of venues and we think they have done just that.”
