Hampshire pub named World's Favourite Yachting Bar

A Hampshire village pub has been named the World's Favourite Yachting Bar of the Year 2014.

The King & Queen, an Enterprise Inns pub in Hamble, is the first UK pub or bar to win the title and beat worldwide competition from Hong Kong to the Channel Islands.

Publican Janet Bradley said: “The K&Q has always been for yachties and it’s great to be acknowledged for this. We hope to continue looking after those who love the sea and sailing.

“We’re so grateful for every customer who voted for us, which speaks of the enthusiasm, hard work and dedication of every one of my team members. From our chefs to our dishwashers, our bartenders to our waiters, this win is for you.”

The competition for sailor-friendly pubs and bars is run by 50° North and sailing publication Scuttlebutt Europe.

Enterprise regional manager Francisco Ortiz said: “This is fantastic news for the King & Queen. The award demonstrates the diversity of Enterprise pubs, the quality of its publicans, and more importantly, Janet’s dedication by going the extra mile to provide a popular local for all to enjoy.”
