Belvedere unveils cocktails with health boosting ingredients
The LVMH-owned luxury vodka’s head of spirit creation and mixology, Claire Smith-Warner, has created the cocktails as part of her initiative Drink, Eat, Live, which she set up in 2013 to help bartenders lead a healthier lifestyle.
The new cocktails are lower in fructose and alcohol and contain some key new superfoods, which are set to hit headlines in 2015, including Mathca (a green tea that is very high in antioxidants), dextrose (the commercial name for glucose, believed to be the best form of energy) and malt rice syrup (a slow-release complex carbohydrate)
"We recognise that enjoying a well-made cocktail is part of the social fabric of life, and we wanted to celebrate this by demonstrating fantastic cocktails made with a variety of alcohol levels as well as different, 100% natural flavours and sweeteners,” said Smith-Warner.
“Great drinks don’t have to just be about how much alcohol they contain, but should be judged by how delicious they are. Today we are aware of the harmful effects of overindulgence not just from alcohol but from sugar and artificial flavours, and Belvedere want to show that there are ways to drink ‘better’, when armed with just a little bit knowledge.”
