Back for the third year at Fuller’s pub the Red Lion, Barnes, London, the event will take place on Wednesday, 28 January and sees 20 chefs battling it out for the title of Britain’s Best Sausage Roll.
Pub entrants include MasterChef 2010 winner Dhruv Baker of the Jolly Gardeners, Earlsfield, London; Fuller’s pub the Park Tavern in Chichester, West Sussex; ETM Group’s Ealing Park Tavern, Ealing, London; Jonathan Pellew of Fuller’s pub the White Horse Inn, Richmond and Matt Hunter, head chef at Andrew Pern’s the Star Inn the City in York.
Also competing are chef Juan Carlos of Geronimo Inns’ site the Bull at WestField shopping centre, London; Kevin Jones of the Swan Inn, Staines and the DM Groups’s Sands End in Wandsworth, London.
The event will be hosted by beer sommelier and food writer Melissa Cole.
Competition judges are food critic Charles Campion; Gary Usher head chef and owner of the Sticky Walnut restaurant; Edd Kimber, winner of the BBC Two series The Great British Bake Off 2010 and Charley Boorman runner up of Celebrity Masterchef 2014.
Last year’s competition was won by Chris Brumby from Ben’s Canteen based in Battersea with his All Day Breakfast Sausage Roll with Bloody Mary Shot.
The Red Lion is Barnes is managed by Angus McKean and Claire Morgan who won Best Cellar in the Great British Pub Awards 2014, organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
