With each chip measuring 19mm by 19mm, the Chunky Cut Chip is the biggest in the gluten-free Super Crisp range, which also includes 7mm and 9mm variants.
Made with sunflower oil, JJ said Super Crisp chips have a special coating that gives them a crispy texture, allowing them to retain heat for longer.
JJ chief product officer Ali Guvemli suggested that the chunkier chip is the perfect partner to a steak or gourmet burger.
One-stop shop
Guvemli also claimed the product was another step towards the company’s aim in becoming a one-stop shop for pubs and restaurants.
He said: “Potatoes are an important part of our business – we sell everything from raw chipping spuds and jacket or roast potatoes to chips, fries and wedges.
“We will be celebrating Chip Week on February 16-22 with potato-themed promotions, social media competitions and the chance to win a case of our Super Crisp Chips.”
Chip Week is a week-long event dedicated to promoting the humble chip. Pubs can take part with promotional activity to engage customers and to drive additional sales. Visit www.potato.org.uk/promotion/foodservice-resources/pubs-and-restaurants for more information.
