The awards, now in their 30th year, are designed to recognize those who demonstrate the highest levels of business acumen, commitment to staff development and passion for the trade. The winner will also be a fitting ambassador for the industry.
This year’s winner was Lee Price, manager of the Royal Pier in Aberystwyth, Wales, who was crowned after passing through a rigorous four stage judging process.
Judging will take place over a six month period, during which time judges will visit the business premises of those selected as semi-finalists. The process culminates with finalists attending an intensive interview in London with a panel of industry heavyweights.
The ultimate winner will be announced at the BII Summer Event on 2 June at The Artillery Garden at The HAC, Moorgate, London.
'Interesting and innovative'
BII chief executive Tim Hulme said: “BII is delighted to be able to provide this opportunity for licensees to showcase themselves and their business as well as learning from current best practice across the industry. Every year we see interesting and innovative business ideas coming forward and with ever more licensees entering the competition I am excited to see what this year’s award will bring.”
Price said: “Few things in life are more exciting than hearing your name being announced as the winner of this top industry award. It was a huge achievement for me personally and also one that has opened doors for my business.
“I have learnt so much from the people I have met, both finalists and industry experts. It has provided me with opportunities for self-development and business growth.
“I would encourage anyone considering entering this award to simply go for it! There really is nothing to lose and so much to gain. Who knows you may even come out with the crown.”
