Staff working at a South Yorkshire pub and restaurant could have been forgiven for feeling ever so slightly ‘Under Pressure’ last week when a legendary musician rocked up for a bite to eat.

Queen guitarist and song writer Brian May visited The Strafford Arms at Stainborough, Barnsley for a spot of dinner before heading off to speak at a one-off event at Wentworth Castle where he addressed 80 guests about his childhood, passion for music, astronomy, animal welfare and his time with the band.

May enjoyed a meal with friends and colleagues before making time to shake hands and speak to the staff and other guests.

"It was such a surreal moment to actually meet and speak to someone who had achieved so much in the music industry,” Strafford Arm's owner Gary Hunt said.

“I told him if he was ever back in the area he may wish to pop in to perform at our Thursday night Strafford Live music evening. He did laugh.”
