Firefly flavoured spirits range set to shine

Pubs and bars looking to tap into the current fad for speakeasies and Prohibition-style drinks are the target for a new range of flavoured spirits from the US.

The range, Firefly Moonshine, is produced by Jim Irving and Scott Newbitt of the Firefly Distillery in South Carolina.

The duo are building on the success of their Sweet Tea Vodka, which has been been launched in the US recently. They make the spirits in their two home-made pot stills.

Firefly Moonshine comes in 750ml mason jars, which are supplied with a pour spout to help staff serve easily straight from the jar.

The seven-strong range comprises White Lightning, a clear spirit, alongside six flavoured spirits: Apple Pie, Caramel, Cherry, Peach, Strawberry, and Blackcurrant, which range from 29.1% ABV to 30.4% ABV.

Each variant has been designed to be served both as a shot or with a mixer in long drinks.

“Firefly Moonshine has a real Prohibition-era feel to it, thanks to the mason jar packaging and the novelty of the straight-from-the-jar serve,” said Hi-Spirits managing director, Dan Bolton.

“For pubs and bars attracting groups of customers on a night out in the run-up to Christmas, the range offers a real point of difference.”
