The Stable secures Plymouth site

The Stable, the South West-based craft cider and pizza restaurant business in which Fuller’s owns a 51% stake, will open its next site, its eighth in Plymouth next spring.

The company, which was founded by Richard and Nikki Cooper, has secured the former Vauxhall Quay Bar in the city’s Sutton Harbour area.

The Publican's Morning Advertiser's sister title M&C Report understands that the group, which opened in Falmouth in August, is close to securing a further site along the south coast and is in talks on making its debut in Wales.

Nikki Cooper said: “We’ve identified Plymouth as a city that has great potential for The Stable. There’s a lot of young, discerning students and professionals in the area and we think that we’ve got a great experience to bring to them.

“The Stable is a cathedral to cider and pizza offering over 80 varieties of the West Country tipple. Coupled with our famous pizzas, handmade from the finest local ingredients, and with our harbour-side location, it will be the perfect place to soak up The Stable’s relaxed atmosphere. We can’t wait to welcome the good people of Plymouth to come and see for themselves exactly what we have on offer.”

Food offer

The food offer is stone baked sourdough pizzas served on breadboards with cutters. Eighty different types of West Country cider are on offer.

Fuller’s announced in June that it had acquired a 51% stake in The Stable for £7.3m. Chief executive Simon Emeny told M&C Report that he saw “considerable potential” to expand the concept in southern England.

Martin Bloom at Insight Retail acted on the Plymouth deal.
