Dewey, who is American and with dual British citizenship, will replace Charles Dent when he starts his role on 1 December.
During his time at Drambuie Dewey was responsible for the development and implementation of its global marketing approach, under the tagline ‘A Taste of the Extraordinary’, as well as driving the commercial performance of the UK business.
His previous roles included global brand director for the Pilsner Urquell brand with SABMiller and international marketing director for William Grant & Sons. He has also worked for Unilever and Diageo’s predecessor International Distillers and Vintners.
Dewey, who has lived in the UK for almost 30 years, said: “I am delighted to be joining Timothy Taylor’s at such an exciting time for the business and look forward to building on all the excellent work and achievements of Charles Dent and his team.”
Following the appointment, Charles Dent will take over as non-executive chairman from Nigel Bankes who will retire at the company’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 12 December.
Dent said: “We regard ourselves as being extremely lucky to have found someone with such vast experience and the relevant complementary skills. He joins us when we have just completed a £12m investment in the development of the brewery and when our bitter, Boltmaker, has recently been crowned CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain. I’m very much looking forward to working with Tim to drive the future growth of Timothy Taylor’s.”
