Front of house teams celebrated on National Waiters Day

Licensees are being encouraged to get their front of house teams involved in National Waiters Day.

The event on 25 September is being co-ordinated by the Springboard Charity which helps young, unemployed and disadvantaged people find careers in hospitality, leisure and tourism.

National Waiters Day, which is now in its second year celebrates the hard work of waiters across the hospitality industry and front of house staff including mixologists, waiters and baristas are invited to celebrate the day.

Hyde Park race

A  range of activities will be taking place around the UK including a waiters race in London’s Hyde Park, where participants will show off their skills by racing whilst carrying a tray with a bottle on it.

Fred Sirieix, general manger of Galvin at Windows at the London Hilton on Park Lane and the inspiration behind the event said: “The idea behind National Waiters Day is to bring a spotlight to the hospitality industry and showcase what a great range of exciting careers the industry has to offer.”

Getting involved

Freehouse community pub the Jolly Cricketers in Seer Green,Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire will be joining the celebrations with their very own waiters race which will see the pubs front of house staff race around the churchyard opposite the pub whilst carrying a pint of local real ale.

Locals watching the race will be able to sponsor their favourite front of house competitor.
