York pub searched as part of Claudia Lawrence investigation

A York pub is at the centre of fresh investigations into the disappearance of chef Claudia Lawrence.

Eight police vehicles were parked outside the Acomb in Kingsway West throughout yesterday, according to The York Press.

The paper reported officers removing a number of items from the pub yesterday afternoon. In the evening the sound of a pneumatic drill could be heard from inside.

Claudia, who vanished in 2009 at the age of 35, is believed to have drunk in the Acomb in the weeks before her disappearance.

A 46-year-old man from York had earlier been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice but was bailed last night as police investigations continue.

A 59-year-old man arrested on 13 May on suspicion of murdering Claudia remains on bail while enquires continue.
