Wine and charcuterie bar to open in former public toilets

A wine and charcuterie bar is set to open on the site of a former underground public toilet in Clapham, South London, later this month.

WC Wine and Charcuterie, which is due to open mid- July, will sit below Clapham Common tube station and is a new project from locals Andy Bell and Jayke Mangion who runs the two Rosette restaurant and bar Entrée in Battersea, South London.

The bar will serve cut to order charcuterie sourced from British, Eastern European and French suppliers as well as a range of parfaits, terrines, cheeses, oysters and escargots.

There will also be 12 to 15 wines available by the glass and half-bottle that will rotate on a regular basis.

Wines by the glass will be available from £5 and bottles will start from £18.

The former 100 year old public toilet will seat 40 in the downstairs bar area with room for a further 40 to 50 in the outside courtyard.

The owners have kept as many original features as possible, including two Royal Doulton urinals, the original tube tiling and the 100 year old mosaic flooring.
