Irish cider Magners to headline sponsor two leading comedy festivals

Magners is to continue its long association with British comedy by sponsoring two of the UK’s leading festivals.

The Irish apple cider is become the headline sponsor at the Bristol Comedy Garden, which runs 2 to 6 July, and the Greenwich Comedy Festival (24 to 28 September).

Magners GB, which is owned by C&C Group, said the new partnerships will bring to life Magners’ Now is a Good Time campaign for comedy fans across the UK.

Claimed to be the biggest comedy festival in the south-west, Bristol Comedy Garden will feature a mix of established stars and rising comedy talent. This year’s acts include British Comedy Award winner Nina Conti, Al Murray, Ardal O’Hanlon and Henning Whem.

The five-day festival also includes live music, a number of bars, and gourmet food courtesy of Bristol's award-winning street food collective Beats.

Greenwich Comedy Festival

The Greenwich Comedy Festival, meanwhile, makes a return to south-east London this September in the brand new setting of the National Maritime Museum grounds.

Previously held at the Old Royal Naval College, the festival has presented a host of the biggest and best names in the business since the inaugural event in 2009.

Comedians to perform at the festival over the years include Bill Bailey, Reginald D Hunter, Sean Lock and Jo Brand. Details of this year’s line up will be unveiled on 24 June 2014.

In addition to title sponsorship, Magners will enjoy exclusive pouring rights for both events.

Comedy support

Paul Condron, marketing director for Magners GB, said: “Magners Irish Cider has been a long standing supporter of British comedy and our partnership with these events reflects our ongoing commitment to raising a smile among our fans.

“Over the next weeks, we’ll be working closely with event organisers to ensure ticket holders to the festivals have as good a time outside the tents as they do inside.”
