Organised by local MPs and promoter Hampshire Fare, the week-long Hampshire in Westminster event will give MPs, Parliamentary staff and guests the chance to sample Upham’s staple ales.
The brewer will be one of 18 Hampshire-based food and drink producers and tourism organisations attending the event, which runs from 9 to 15 June.
Brewed at Upham’s base on Stakes Farm near Winchester, the ales that will be on show all have a racing theme in line with the heritage of the farm.
They are: Punter, a 4% ABV mid-range bitter; Tipster, a golden ale with a 3.6% ABV; Stakes, a 4.8% premium bitter; and Sprinter, Upham’s 3.8% ABV golden summer ale.
Strangers’ Bar
To coincide with the week, Tipster will also be the guest beer in the Palace of Westminster’s Strangers’ Bar. It’s the first time that one of Upham’s ales will have been stocked at the bar.
David Butcher, director of Upham Brewery, said: “We are proud to champion Hampshire where both our brewery and several of our pubs are located. Hampshire is rich in local food and drink produce and we’re delighted to be accompanying some of our finest from all corners of the county on centre stage in Westminster.”
Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, added: “I’m really looking forward to welcoming Upham Brewery to Strangers’ Bar.
“Coupled with the Hampshire in Westminster event, this will be a fantastic way to profile one of the region’s leading growth businesses to my colleagues and the many guests at Westminster.”
Opened in 2009, Upham sells to more than 250 pubs, hotels and local Majestic and Co-op stores as well as to its own group of eight pubs across Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex and Wiltshire.
