Timothy Taylor's create French beer sausages to celebrate Tour de France

Yorkshire based brewery and pub company Timothy Taylor’s are launching a new French beer infused sausage to celebrate this year’s Tour de France, which sets off from Leeds on Saturday 5 July.

Le Champion sausages will sit alongside their latest French beer, Le Champion, and will be made up of 100% British pork hog and hop containing the 4.5% ABV blonde beer.

Taylor’s will be working in tandem with R&J Butchers, based in Kirkby Malzeard, who supply meat to a number of Taylor’s managed pubs.

Taylor’s operations manager Heike Funke and members of the brewery staff cycled the 40 mile journey from Keighley, across Yorkshire, to R&J’s purpose built butchery in Kirkby Malzeard to deliver Le Champion beer in person.

“These delicious sausages are going to make a superb addition to the menus in our food led pubs,” commented Funke. “What better way to celebrate the start of the Tour de France than by enjoying a meal of R&J’s special sausage coupled with a pint of Timothy Taylor’s novel French style beer,” Funke went on to say.

Ryan Atkinson, managing director of R&J Butchers said: “We were extremely keen to be involved in cycling’s greatest spectacle and wanted to create something extra special. You could say we’ve had a tete a tete with Timothy Taylor’s to concoct some bangers and mash magic.”

Timothy Taylor’s has a pub estate of 18 pubs, all of which will have Le Champion beer on the bar from the middle of this month. It will also be available at other selective pubs throughout the county. Le Champion sausages will be served at the Woolly Sheep, Skipton, the Royal Oak, Keighley, the Royal Oak, Ripon and The Town Hall Tavern, Leeds, while stocks last.
