The statistics show that an average of 430 new pubs join the League each year, despite a period of difficult trading conditions for the pub industry. In total, more than 1,700 new venues signed up to the national competition during the last four years.
The Redtooth Poker League runs in four quarters a year, culminating in two national finals with the best 100 amateur poker players winning a trip to Las Vegas in May. The eighth year of the League began in February 2014.
'Different dynamic'
Redtooth managing director Martin Green said: “The success of the Redtooth Poker League has been phenomenal. Thousands of pubs and venues across the country have benefited from hosting a tournament with the best players progressing to regional and national finals.
“We have around 1,000 pubs take part each year with new venues joining all the time. The poker leagues offer a different dynamic to pubs and have helped attract a wide range of people, young and old, male and female, to play the game within their community.
“This has not only brought local people together but done so in their local pub increasing footfall for landlords.”
