Boxer George Groves pulled pints not punches when he dropped into the Windermere pub in South Kenton, near Wembley.

The Londoner, who will challenge for the super-middleweight world title against Carl Froch on 31 May, posed for pictures at the pub after a bus tour around the capital.

Landlord Noel Nehir said: “It’s incredible, we are really honoured to have someone as high profile as George come here. We have already got people asking if we will be showing the fight and we are still over a month away.”

Groves said he was counting on his fellow Londoners to support him during the bout, which is expected to attract 80,000 fans at Wembley.

"I think in this fight, it is going to be a massive, massive advantage for me," he said. "Carl Froch never really does too well away from home and he is very settled and comfortable in Nottingham.

"Obviously there will be people travelling up and down the country to get here but there are plenty of Londoners that are excited to get down here and be part of this fight, to see the build-up.”

The fight is being shown on Sky Boxoffice with early bird deals available via Sky Business.
