Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, has been announced as one of the celebrity judges in McCoy’s ‘Put Your Pub on a Plane to Rio’ competition — offering the winners the chance to watch this summer’s World Cup in a pub near Copacabana beach.

Fans will be able to enjoy the football and carnival atmosphere in the familiar surrounds of their very own local pub, complete with all the comforts and interior decoration from the original. The licensee from the winning pub will be flown out to Brazil in June to enjoy the football from the comfort of the Rio McCoy’s local.

Hosts and their customers nominate or vote for their pub online at www.mccoys.co.uk/riolocal until 21 March. The winning pub will be selected from the five pubs that receive the most votes.

Murray said: “This year it’s all eyes on Brazil — an exotic earthly paradise you might think. But there’s one thing missing — the British pub, and now McCoy’s are giving footy fans the chance to fly their local and their mates out to Rio for the greatest tournament on earth.”
