The group stands to do well during British Pie Week starting next week (3 to 9 March) followig the survey.
Topping the pie buyers are those living in the south-east, who eat 12,815 pies at 15 Vintage Inns sites in the region each month. Chicken, pulled ham and leek - created by company chef James Martin - is the most popular choice followed by beef and merlot.
Essex and East Anglia come in second with 12,122 pies sold a month and north-east sites get through 11,930.
British Pie Week activity
Pubs across the UK are embracing British Pie Week with the Queen’s Head in Hawkedon, Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk offering sweet and savoury pies; and the Hazel Pear Inn, Northwich, Cheshire offering six extra types of pie alongside its Wednesday Pie Night, among many examples.
South London company Renaissance Pubs has launched a pie competition for consumers to help them choose a new pie flavour for the coming year. Suggestions can be tweeted to @RenaissancePubs including #RenaissancePie until 16 March for a chance to make the menu.
Other activity in honour of British Pie Week includes offering a trio of pies between 3 and 16 March for £5, which comprises a pork pie; steak and ale pie; and Locks Drove chicken pie.
