Pub pork pie competition joins ranks of bar snack contests

London has seen pub and restaurant chefs battling it out to find the best scotch egg, sausage roll and sliders and now the hunt is on for the best pork pie.

The Princess Victoria in Shepherd’s Bush, London is hosting the ‘Princess Victoria Pork Pie Off’, on 3 March in conjunction with charity Action Against Hunger. The event is to celebrate British Pie Week 2014.

Chefs from restaurants and pubs across Britain have been invited to enter  their interpretation of British classic the pork pie.

The 20 competitors include Matt Reuther from the Princess Victoria, Dom Chapman from the Royal Oak, Parley Street, and TV’s Andy Bates (‘The Pie Man’).

Judges include Tom Parker Bowles together with Christine Hayes, editor of Olive magazine. Customers will also encouraged to vote for their favourites.

The Princess Victoria is owned by Truffle Hunting, the restaurant group behind Newman Street Tavern and the Henry Root also in London.
