Potato specialist Farm Frites has launched Patatas Bravas potato cubes, which it recommends can be topped with everything from chorizo to seasonings.

Positioned as a side dish, recipe ingredient, sharing option to be served with dips or even as part of a child’s roast dinner, the consistently-sized large cubes can be cooked in 15 to 20 minutes, deep fried in four to five minutes or pan fried in 12 to 15 minutes. The product is allergen-free, amking it safe for coeliacs.

Mediterranean cuisines on the rise

"In Allegra’s Taste of the Future survey, 6% and 3% of foodservice professionals interviewed said they thought Mediterranean and Spanish, respectively, were the most prevalent cuisines eating out today," said marketing manager Nic Townsend. "What is particularly interesting, however, is that these figures shot up to 24% and 17% when asked what cuisines would be most prevalent in 2020.

"Our new patatas bravas offer caterers an authentic way to rustle up tapas and meet demand for sharing options, bar foods, sliders, platters and tasters, with fewer ingredients to source and the option of many add-ons, from sauces and dips to seasonings and shakes."

Townsend said the product is a good fit with pubs and fast casual operators that are looking for sharing options that reflect growing interest in emerging cuisines.
