Stellar speaker line-up revealed for Future Pub 2014 conference

Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) chief executive Alistair Darby and Simon Emeny, CEO of Fuller’s, will outline their visions for the pub of the future at a must-attend conference on Monday 3 March.

They are the keynote speakers at the Future Pub Conference 2014, which is organised by M&C Report and the Publican’s Morning Advertiser and takes place at the May Fair Hotel in central London.

Speaker line-up

Rufus Hall, chief executive of Orchid, will discuss the rise of hybrid drinking and dining concepts in the sector, and Conall Wolsey, director of Belfast-based Beannchor, will speak about diversification and filling in the day parts.

The question ‘how premium can pubs get?’ will be addressed during a panel session featuring Ed Turner of Geronimo Inns, Colin Sadler of Revere Pub Company, and Peter Borg-Neal of Oakman Inns.

The full-day conference will include a talk from Paul Filler of Magnify Marketing, who will discuss Intertain’s use of technology to maximise the potential of major sporting events.

Paul Flatters of the Trajectory Partnership will talk about defining your future customer, Pollyanna Vincent of Tripadvisor will discuss the challenges of building a reputation on-line, and Steven Kenee of Downing LLP will examine funding models of the future.

Andrew Cowan of headline partner Diageo will talk on the subject of, “A vibrant on-trade - that’s the spirit!”, and Katy Moses of him! will detail highlights from dedicated Future Pubs Research, commissioned in association with Booker.

There will be a session looking at how to appeal to different age groups and demographics. Amy Leech of the Soil Association will issue a challenge to the pub trade around providing healthy kids’ meals and family dining.

Marion Roberts, professor of urban design at the University of Westminster, will discuss engaging young adults and James Parkinson of the Royal Institute of British Architects will look at the impact of an ageing population and the impact for pubs.
