Hayley Cropper's final ale: Coronation Street star has her own beer

Staffordshire-based beer retailer, Best of British Beer, has unveiled the beer it was commissioned to supply for the leaving party of actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, whose character Hayley Cropper has died in long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.

The Red Anorak Ale was made by the Lymestone Brewery and had a label featuring the star in the the famous role, which she has played for 15 years.

It is the second beer the company has provided to stars of the long running soap. Last year it made the 4.1% ABV Al’s Ale for Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone Dobbs to commemorate his winning the National TV Best Soap Actor award.

“The company really moved up another level in 2013,” said director Gill Sherwin.

“We’ve been greatly helped by working with some very talented beer producers, and we’ve ventured into creating some collaboration beers with a number of them, including the Lymestone Brewery from Stone.”
