Admiral launches social media course for tenants

Admiral Taverns, the tenanted pub operator, has launched a social media course for its licensees, aimed at helping them engage with customers and driving people into pubs.

The company, which has designed the scheme in partnership with ABV Training, expects to put 150 of its licensees – almost 20% – through the course over the next 12 months.

It said that the course is designed to help both beginners and more experienced users of social media set up, plan and implement social media tools and campaigns to drive sales.

Benefits

Suzanne Smith, head of licensee recruitment & training at Admiral Taverns, said it was important for the company to be at the forefront of tailored social media training for its licensees.

She said: "We’re very excited to be making this level of support available to our pubs and are delighted that so many licensees are embracing social media as a ‘must do’ tool for their business. It is important for our licensees to utilise platforms such as Facebook and Twitter in a positive way to communicate with their customers and local community.

"The ‘driving sales through social media’ course helps licensees get the most out of these modern marketing tools, while providing more experienced users with new and more diverse skills."

Workshops

The course is held across two separate days for those running Admiral pubs, with post-workshop support in the weeks afterwards. The workshops cover topics such as setting up social media accounts, ideas on how licensees can improve their social media activity and marketing of events or promotions online, potentially saving large amounts in advertising costs.

The social media course comes only weeks after the recent successes of Admiral Taverns’ e-learning courses with CPL Training, which has just passed the training of over 150 licensees.
