The brand is sponsoring quiz nights at twelve pubs and bars across the capital over the next two months with the winning teams from each event entered in London finale where they will compete to scoop a VIP trip to the Original Budweiser Budvar Brewery in the Czech Republic.
The Island Queen, Islington became the first to kick off the proceedings last weekend and now
The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton; the Prince Albert, Notting Hill; the Trinity, Borough High Street; the Railway, Blackheath; the Half & Half, Croydon; the Big Chill House, Pentonville Road; The Draft House Westbridge, Battersea; The Jolly Gardeners, Putney; Bollo House, South Acton; the Railway, Clapham; and the Draft House, Tower Bridge are set to take part.
Each venue will be decorated with bunting and props in the form of barrel ends and draught dispensing mobile bars, while some outlets will offer Czech pub music and delights of the Southern Bohemian kitchen.
“Budvar’s got loads of history, loads of provenance and all kinds of fascinating, quirky stuff that make it a natural as a quiz subject” Ian Moss, Budvar’s UK marketing controller said. “By involving the ‘little grey cells’ of beer enthusiasts we hope to confirm our existing drinkers in their enthusiasm as well as to make lots of new converts.
Typical of the quirky stuff will be a question like ‘What has General Custer got to do with Budweiser Budvar?’ It makes you think, doesn’t it?”
Teams can enter the quizzes online via the website or Facebook page or register with the venue.
