Sky has become the exclusive sales agent for Racing UK’s commercial TV service on satellite.

Racing UK shows action from 33 of the leading racecourses in the UK including Cheltenham, Aintree, Newmarket, Epsom, York, Newbury, Goodwood and Sandown, with Ascot joining the channel in June 2014.

Racing Pack Subscription

The move allows pubs to feature full coverage of every UK and Republic of Ireland race, at every race course, through a discounted2 Racing Pack subscription that combines Racing UK and At The Races. Licensees with two screens can show both dedicated horse-racing channels to guarantee a race every few minutes.

Horse Racing is a profit driver

David Rey, managing director of Sky Business, said: “Horse racing is a strong profit driver for pubs and clubs and with our new Racing UK offering we now provide 361 days of coverage a year – making Sky a one-stop-shop for horse racing. Pubs and clubs can subscribe to our exclusive discounted Racing Pack to show every race, at every track, in the UK and Republic of Ireland.”

Richard FitzGerald, CEO of Racecourse Media Group, the parent company of Racing UK, said: “We have been delighted with the success of the commercial business for the seven years it’s been operating, which is reflected by the strong growth we have seen over this time.

“However, the time is now right to link up with Sky and grow the commercial subscriber base further. Not only does the deal benefit both parties strategically, but it is good for racing as it will ensure a wider reach.

“Racing UK has enjoyed a good relationship with Sky ever since we launched as a stand-alone channel on the Sky platform in 2004, and we also have an excellent partnership with Sky Bet. We now look forward to working together in taking the sport to a new audience through the commercial service.”

Customers purchasing Sky’s exclusive Racing Pack, which is available from 1 October 2013, will also benefit from Racing UK’s Club Day scheme, which provides more than 165 free tickets to over 33 race days every year.
