Investment in Waitrose Good Food Guide likely

The Good Food Guide could see investment in the future following its acquisition by Waitrose, according to its editor.

The 63-year-old publication was purchased in August and will continue as an independent guide to eating out in the UK.

"They really love us and are very proud to have us," said consultant editor Elizabeth Carter. "I think there will be some investment in us. The book will be sold at every till point in every Waitrose from Monday (9 September) and will be in bookshops by this weekend.

"The guide fits very well into the Waitrose family because the feeling is that Waitrose shoppers are Good Food Guide readers."

Five pubs are listed in this year's guide, including the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, which won the PMA's Top 50 Gastropub award.

Partnership

Meanwhile, Roy Ackerman’s online TV food and drink programme Coolcucumber.tv has teamed up with the guide and filmed a selection of top-rated restaurants. Coolcucumber.tv showcases the best UK chefs and restaurants.

"To be in partnership with this renowned food guide will undoubtedly contribute to raising the profile of all those talented chefs and outstanding restaurants featured on Coolcucumber.tv.
