Five pubs listed in Waitrose Good Food Guide top 50 restaurants

The Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire is the first to place at number 35. It has won top spot in the Publican’s Morning Advertiser’s Top 50 Gastropub Awards for the last two years, in association with headline partner Budweiser Budvar.

The Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent placed at 39, the Freemasons at Wiswell, Lancashire came in at 42, the Royal Oak in Paley Street, Berkshire is number 44 and the Red Lion in East Chisenbury, Wiltshire completed the pub entries at number 45. All five pubs in the list scored six points out of a possible 10.

Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in Cumbria topped the list with 10 points with Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire placing second, also with 10 points for the sixth year running - the longest any venue has held a top score since the new scoring system was introduced.

Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Rock, Cornwall completed the top three with nine points.
