Scotch Egg Challenge lists 13 pub finalists

The finalists for the third annual Scotch Egg Challenge have been revealed by host venue the Ship in Wandsworth, south-west London.

Taking place on Tuesday 17 September those cooking in the final, including 13 pubs of 24 contenders, are:

  • Fish Market, Liverpool Street, London
  • Gauthier Soho, London
  • The George Inn, Chideock, Dorset
  • The Grove, Balham, south-west London
  • The Henry Root, south-west London
  • Kitchen Table, west London
  • Marquis of Westminster, south-west London
  • The New Inn, Baschurch, Shrewsbury
  • Peyton & Byrne, London
  • Porters, Covent Garden, London
  • Princess Victoria, Uxbridge
  • Rivington Grill, east London
  • The Swan, Bampton, Devon

The scotch eggs will be judged by a panel of experts. It is a ticketed event with proceeds going to international charity Action Against Hunger.

Last year, the Bladebone Inn in Reading, Berkshire was victorious with its duck egg, truffle layer and a potato and Parma ham breadcrumb version.
