Sky has launched its new Pub Challenge app which aims to help licensees showing football make more of match days.

The free mobile app aims to drive greater footfall into Sky Sports venues for televised Premier League football matches and provide pub goers a reason to stay longer and spend more.

Users can download the app from today (12 August) in the Apple iTunes store, search for upcoming Premier League fixtures and locate the nearest pub showing Sky Sports. Once they’ve ‘checked-in’ to the venue, the app comes to life with in-game quizzes, polls and trivia, as well as post-match questions that aim to increase dwell time. Top players can win Premier League tickets and cash prizes.

Sky is also incentivising licensees to drink as many check-ins as possible with monthly prizes and the app also gives them the option to provide venue-specific prizes to the player who scores the most points at their venue.

The app integrates with popular social media platforms, with users able to create an ‘event’ and invite their Facebook friends to join them at a specific pub to watch the big game.

Sky is broadcasting 116 Premier League games this season – which kicks-off this coming weekend with Swansea vs champions Manchester Utd.
