Neil Macleod, who co-founded the Revolution Vodka Bar operator Inventive Leisure with Roy Ellis, has left the business to “pursue other interests”.

Inventive said Macleod will step down as a director with immediate effect after 21 years at the company.

Chief executive Mark McQuater said: “Neil has made a strong contribution to Inventive over the years and the company wishes him every success for the future.”

Ellis and Macleod first entered business together in 1991 to run hotels before opening the first Revolution in Oxford Road, Manchester in 1996.

Inventive has grown to an estate of c70 sites with a turnover in excess of £115m. Earlier this year Ellis was replaced as chief executive by McQuater, who formerly ran pub company Barracuda.

McQuater has been building his own team since taking the CEO role, and last month appointed Novus Leisure operations manager Gavin Hughes to the role of regional operations manager – south.

This summer Inventive began a £6.6m programme to invest in 26 sites.
