BBPA to host Alcohol Strategy roundtable

The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) is to host a Alcohol Strategy Roundtable with the Department of Health and Home Office in late August.

The BBPA have been asked by the two government department to run the roundtable meeting with representatives of the on-trade to discuss the ‘challenge to industry’, following on from the publication of  Government’s renewed Alcohol Strategy.

A representative group of industry members and trade bodies will come together at the BBPA offices to discuss issues including targeted local action, improved education and responsible marketing. At the event there there is also the opportunity for discussions on the mandatory code and the proposed ban on below-cost selling.

Andrew Tighe, BBPA policy director, said: “The BBPA is pleased to be working with the Department of Health and Home Office to coordinate this roundtable. Bringing together a range of participants this event is a real opportunity for us to make the industry voice heard right at the centre of the policy making process.”
