The Ty Coch Inn, in Porthdinllaen on the Llyn Peninsula, came third in a list of the world’s best beach bars, behind the Pelican Bar in Jamaica and Badeschiff in Berlin.
The pub, which is inaccessible by car and when the tide is high, is the only bar in the small harbour.
The Watering Hole in Perranporth, Cornwall, reached number seven on the list, which was compiled by cheapflights.com.
Landlord of the Ty Coch Inn Stuart MacMilllian, whose family took on the pub in 1968, said: “It was a complete and utter surprise. I was told about a month ago, and since then all hell has broken loose.
“It’s been in every major newspaper, I’ve been on TV and I spoke to Chris Evans on the radio this morning.
“Today’s been the busiest Thursday at the pub in a long time.”
The Ty Coch Inn was built as a vicarage in 1823 but has been a pub since 1842.
MacMillian said since making the list there has been a surge in business. “We’ve had a lot of first timers in here today. We’ve had over 1,000 hits on our website. I’m starting to think I’m going to have to employ more staff!
“There is a buzz about it. Everyone is talking about it. If the weather stays like this it will have an amazing impact.”
MacMillian added that there will be a barbecue party with two live DJs at the pub on Sunday afternoon to celebrate and he will also organise a meal on Sunday night for staff.
