With three categories available to enter, the BBPA said the awards celebrate members that look to not only improve, support and build their own interests – but those of the sector as a whole.
The BBPA Annual Dinner and Awards will be hosted by political journalist John Sargeant. Entries are open to all member companies of the BBPA free of charge, with a closing date of 12 July.
BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds said: “Last year’s awards were a great showcase for outstanding company performance in our sector.
“We are really looking forward to another great set of entries – and with the huge campaigning successes of the beer duty cut, this year’s annual dinner and awards will be a great celebration.”
The categories available to enter are:
Beer Champion: This award looks to highlight companies that have successfully sought to promote, improve and celebrate beer as a category. The Liberation Group was the inaugural winner, with an entry that judges said showed a real dedication to beer. The company encouraged Ale Trails, and informed customers on the science of brewing, while also promoting its natural qualities.
Pub Champion: Sponsored by BT, this award seeks to reward companies that have worked to make sure they remain a national treasure for future generations. Judges said last year’s winner Daniel Thwaites achieved success through projects such as its WayInn initiative and its PubTalk magazine, a commitment to investing in challenging pubs through ‘Project 11’ and efforts in menu development.
Heart of the Community: The winner of this award needs to demonstrate a proven commitment to its local community. Joseph Holt triumphed last year, thanks in part to its long-standing partnership with the Christie Hospital in Manchester.
