Charlotte Felton, deputy manager of Liquid & Envy in Oldham, Lynsey McCathie, a club administrator from the Cav in Edinburgh and Ben Adams, a DJ from Liquid & Envy in Basildon were announced as the first three candidates to successfully complete the online training course, which launched last month.
The free training tool, which covers the use of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest and includes written, video and audio content, was developed in partnership with Factory Social, the official social media partner of Team GB for the London 2012 Games.
Although primarily aimed at members of staff who are responsible for managing their club’s online presence, the nightclub operator has given all staff – including security teams and DJs – the opportunity to develop their social media skills.
“Social media is everything to our customers; it’s integral to the way they live their lives and communicate with each other and our teams have to embrace it,” Carl Sautereau, Luminar Group head of customer engagement said.
“We wanted to help our people to really understand how the social sphere works and how they can make the most of it to keep our brands current. We now have some great advocates for the Social Media Academy that can help to drive consistent standards across our estate.”
Plans to add further course elements including a focus on Google+ and blog writing have also been outlined by the Luminar Group, which is seeking external accreditation for the course.
