Changes include the addition of new adult areas for parents to use while the kids play, with TVs, fresh coffee and other improved facilities, Orchid said. Customers will also be able to make party bookings online.
“We know that our Funhouses set us apart from the competition, but it is not enough to simply offer this attraction; we have to ensure that they are top quality and well run,” said Amy Garrett, marketing executive for Orchid’s Free House Dining pubs, which include the Fuzzy Ed’s Funhouses.
Orchid is also introducing an apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Apprentice 1st to give Funhouse supervisors additional family-focused skills and training.
Starting with an intake of around 40 supervisors in April this year, the year-long Level 2 NVQ apprenticeship covers health and safety, party planning and entertaining customers, merchandising, sales planning and social media engagement, and field trips.
“The Funhouses at our Free House Dining pubs are a key driver and give families additional reasons to visit, so we have created this apprenticeship to help our staff enhance their careers and offer an even better experience to customers,” said Tracy Read, head of development and communications at Orchid.
