Madness singer Suggs "devastated" at the closure of Camden pub Crown and Goose

Madness singer Suggs says he is "devastated" over the closure of famous Camden pub the Crown & Goose.

The pub is set to close its doors within the next three months after losing a campaign to save the pub from demolition.

The war with the developers was lost last month and has been an ongoing thing for the last 10 years with the operators of the Crown & Goose having support from local residents, Camden Council and local councillors.

Suggs said: "I love the Goose and I’ve been drinking there since I was 16. I’ve got many fine memories of times in the Goose. Both my daughters have worked in there and many of Madness's successful moments have been celebrated in the pub.

"It holds a very special place in the heart of the community and I will be devastated to see another important local pub close."

General manager Ben McDonald said: "Some of my customers have been regulars at the Goose for over 20 years and are heart broken. If the Trust had have been willing to listen, we believe we could have found a viable solution that benefited the Trust and saved the pub."
