Horsemeat scandal: Wetherspoon's tests give meals the all-clear
JD Wetherspoon, the managed pub operator, has issued a statement confirming that tests have shown no traces of horse DNA in its meals.

The company said it commissioned independent laboratory tests on all of its menu items containing beef or lamb, including 11 different batches of beefburgers.

A total of 29 menu items were tested, including pork sausages. The results of each of the tests were negative for equine DNA. In addition, tests were carried out by the company’s suppliers, as advised by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: “We use reputable suppliers and control our own distribution network and have full traceability of the meat that is on our menu.
“The results of our own tests, together with those of our suppliers, highlight our commitment to food safety within our pubs.”
Wetherspoon has published a full question and answer response to the issue on its website (www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk).
