Brandon Lewis: he will speak at the BII lunch in May
Pubs minister Brandon Lewis is set to speak at the BII (British Institute of Innkeeping) annual lunch in May.

The MP for Great Yarmouth will use it as an opportunity to outline his vision for a “progressive and sustainable” pub business.

“I am really keen to have a dialogue with the industry and for it to have access to me, so am delighted to have the opportunity at this year’s BII Lunch,” said Lewis. “The industry can use me as a vessel to make its case across Government. I am really passionate about that.”

BII’s newly-unveiled chief Tim Hulme will also be speaking about the “transformational period” for the institute and his vision for the next phase of the institute’s development.

The event will also announce the winners of both the 2013 BII Licensee of the Year and the Jeremy Allen Award, which was launched last year in memory of the founding partner of licensing firm Poppleston Allen.

“The 25th BII annual lunch presents a fantastic networking opportunity for the industry,” said Hulme. “This is a modern, interactive event, which celebrates the great work the BII does in supporting the licensed trade and raising standards across the board.

“As we reflect on the previous 25 years of this event and the changes that have come to pass, we will look ahead to the next quarter century and to supporting and developing the next generation of pub managers and licensees.”

The BII Annual Lunch and AGM takes place at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on 14 May. To book a place call 01276 417846 or visit www.bii.org/annuallunch
