First up, Glenmorangie is adding a fourth whisky, Ealanta, to its limited Private Edition range. The 19-year-old whisky has been aged in unused casks made from oaks from the Mark Twain National Forest.
“New wood imparts a purity of flavour that I think many Glenmorangie aficionados will find an interesting divergence from our previous release,” said Glenmorangie’s distilling and whisky creation director, Dr Bill Lumsden
“Using virgin oak casks that have been heavily toasted adds mouth-filling vanilla flavours,” he said.
Separately, That Boutique-y Whisky Company has launched a single malt from Bowmore, which is available through online retailer the Master of Malt.
The 48.7% ABV peated malt is said to be, “an excellent after-dinner drink with notes of peat, candied orange peel and dried fruits”.
