MP Mark Hunter steps behind the bar at the Victorian in Bramhall

Mark Hunter swapped politics for pints when he stepped behind the bar at the Victorian in Bramhall, Greater Manchester, to work a shift.

During his stint behind the pumps of the Manchester brewery J.W.Lees owned premises, the Cheadle MP listened to locals and members of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) who had popped in for chat.

Hunter, who is pictured with general manager Alan Warnock, was taking part in the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group ‘MPs in pubs’ campaign, which encourages its members to take part and learn first-hand about the industry. The initiative is supported by the PMA.

“I was delighted to take part in such a fun and informative project to help support local business and highlight some of the issues facing local pubs,” Hunter said.

General manager, Alan Warnock, added: “We are really pleased that there is such strong interest from Westminster to learn about our industry and the role pubs play in the community.”
