Cosy Club to open fifth site in Cardiff

Loungers, the fast-growing café/bar-restaurant group backed by private equity firm Piper, has opened a fifth site under its Cosy Club brand in Cardiff, its biggest to date and 28th overall.

The new 7,300sq ft site is in the St David’s 2 shopping scheme and was developed at a cost of £800,000. Managing director Alex Reilley said: “It was a great challenge taking on such a big and fairly sterile space, and giving it the Cosy Club makeover; we’re absolutely delighted with the result.”

Reilley also confirmed that work on a sixth Cosy Club, in a Grade II-listed former hospital in Exeter, is due to start in late January next year.

“We’re finally over the line in terms of getting on site in Exeter, following two years of waiting while the landlord was securing funding for the development. Cosy Club Exeter will occupy the ground floor of an old hospital wing, which forms part of a massive redevelopment of the former Dean Clarke House Hospital on Southernhay.”

Loungers is also due to open its 29th site later this month in the Marine Point development in New Brighton, the Wirral.
