Rush and Reid provided punditry for each match and took part in a football quiz at the Twelve Pins, Finsbury Park, the Jolly Miller, Liverpool, the Crown, Lichfield and t6he Wakey Tavern, Wakefield for each of England’s four qualifying games. They were joined by the BBC's Chris Hollins.
“It’s been a great experience to meet the fans who come to their local pub to watch football,” said Rush.
David Scott, Carlsberg UK’s director of marketing, said: “This has been a really successful initiative which we hope has helped to demonstrate to pubs how to make the most of live football. By helping to facilitate the Ultimate Legends Experience, we have been able to show how to effectively drive football fans into pubs before the game and to keep them engaged beyond the final whistle.”
Gary McDonnell, owner of The Crown, Lichfield said: “We are the number one sports bar in Lichfield and have a successful weekly quiz. To win the Carlsberg Ultimate Legends Experience with Ian Rush and Peter Reid before an England game is an honour. It’s great that Carlsberg are providing this amazing opportunity for us to reward our loyal regulars and hopefully get some new faces through the door.”
