National Pubwatch commissions research on the value of pubwatch schemes
National Pubwatch (NPW) has commissioned Leeds Metropolitan University to undertake a study to evaluate the effectiveness and strengths of local pubwatch schemes around the UK.

Researchers at the university will assess the impact that schemes have on crime reduction and community safety, and examine how NPW can support and guide local pubwatch schemes in the future.

NPW is urging licensees, police and local authority licensing officers to participate in the research by going to www.nationalpubwatch.org.uk where they can view the links to the survey.

NPW chairman Steve Baker said: “National Pubwatch believes that local pubwatch schemes provide an important partnership role in many towns and cities across the UK.

“We would urge participation from anyone who has had direct involvement in a pubwatch, either as a member or as a stakeholder in a supporting role.

"This is an important piece of work and we hope that the findings will confirm our belief that Pubwatch is delivering at a local level; but we also want to know how we can help to support that work and move it forward”.
