Hellmann's launches search for Britain's best sandwich

Unilever Food Solution’s Hellmann’s is searching for its Sandwich Champion 2012 in the 250th year of the sandwich.

Pub chefs must create two innovative sandwiches using Hellmann’s mayonnaise and put them on sale in their outlet to be eligible to enter.

They must then let their customers to choose their favourite and send in the winning recipe to be in with a chance of the title. The top three sandwich makers will each win a professional panini grill.

A Hellmann’s survey has found that 73% of consumers prefer the brand due to its taste.

“We’ve launched this competition because we believe that taste remains at the heart of every dish and also to support the greatest of British traditions – the sandwich,” said category mix manager Leon Mills.

“Celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, we are challenging the modern day sandwich shop to shout about the great offer they have.  Anyone can make a sandwich, but it takes imagination, flair and a passion for quality and great flavours to get it right. So, if you love sandwiches and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, get creative and see what amazing taste combinations you can make.”
