The Chesterfield Pub & Kitchen in Bingham is the group’s fifth pub and will stay true to the ethos and British-inspired menu of the other sites. The sixth venue is fish & chip shop the Cod’s Scallops, also in Nottingham.
The Punch lease is being cosmetically refurbished with around £300,000 put up by the pub group and £150,000 by Moleface. It has around 120 covers with a private dining room for 16 and 80 covers outside.
Owner John Molnar sees a lot of potential for future development at the two-storey site including six letting rooms, converting outbuildings into an outside bar and grill and cookery school. It also has a smaller side garden that could be marketed as The Secret Garden next summer complete with a tree swing.
A couple of senior chefs and a manager will be moving over to run the site and both Molnar and group executive chef Leroy Allen will be there for the first few weeks.
“It is the first pub we’ve done that won’t have an open kitchen as the shape it is wouldn’t be benefitted by opening it up. It is our second biggest site behind the Wollaton and I think it could be our flagship site eventually due to the amount of room it has.
“Apart from a new kitchen floor, new extraction and kitchen kit the refit was mainly decorative.
